We strive to provide a generous box of food that allows the recipient to prepare well-rounded meals for 5-7 days. In addition to standard dry staples such as beans, rice, and canned goods, we include bakery items, fresh produce, frozen meat, butter and treats as available.
The pantry has many opportunities to purchase items at a greatly reduced cost. In addition, we currently prepare meals for about 150 men and women on a weekly basis.
Why a Food Pantry?
The purpose of the organization was to provide a central distribution center for companies, groups and individuals who wished to help provide food for hungry people in Pinellas County Fl. Second Harvest's mission is to feed hungry people and work to solve hunger issues in our community.
Second Harvest’s vision of ending hunger is more important than ever. Hunger is a big problem, and we need everyone’s help to solve this issue. According to the USDA, an estimated 49 million Americans are at risk of hunger, and almost 14 million U.S. children under 18 are food insecure.
